Painting the calipers...any quick tips?

I plan on painting the calipers this weekend using the G2 kit.

Any tips/advice or 20/20 hindsight wisdom?

Thanks so much!

The better you clean them the better they will last, spend the time on this step...

I plan on picking up an extra can of brake cleaner & some stiff-bristled wire brushes. Thanks for the tip!

EXCELLENT writeup! Nice legs, too! LOL

Question...since Schultze is still at the collision center from the 03/15/08 accident, I had them remove the calipers so I could paint them this weekend. I noticed in your writeup that you did the painting while the calipers were still installed...is there anything special I should do since the calipers are uninstalled? I haven't really looked at the calipers yet, so I'm not sure if there are any pieces on them that should be taped off.

Hope to hear from you soon...

Erika

Depends on what state they're in... in general, just paint the same surfaces you see on mine... don't paint around the inside of the calipers (where the pads go or where the piston is), don't paint the bleed nipple, don't paint where the hose connects, etc....

T.J.

Did you read T.J.'s post there on HR when he rebuilt his classic's calibers? A very nice job...http://www.hrmini.com/component/opti.../topic,2426.0/

He said he had access to a media blaster which would be the ultimate cleaning b4 paint.....esp since you have them off the car. And he can obviously show you what not to paint.....
