Hankook Radial K106, 205/50/16 available for $57
Hey folks,
In case anyone's interested, edgeracing.com has these available cheap. They look pretty cool, but I'm not sure they are right for me. I think that I'll buy a set of the Sumitomo HTRZ II. Perhaps one of you might wish to take advantage of this?

The K106 is a High Performance Summer tire. While the price is low I don't think this is a good match for most MINIs that enjoy a bit of lively driving.
But if one is on a tight budget then...
Maybe it's ok for your family sedan.
Also in 205/50-16
At tirerack.com
General Exclaim UHP (Ultra High Performance Summer tire)
380 treadwear $69 each (low stock)
A much better performing tire with good street comfort and at a decent price as well.
Also the Falken Ze-912 is better than the K106 and at a decent price.

I'm looking for a slight step up in cornering performance and willing to give up a small amount of comfort for my (can't wait) soon-to-arrive MCS. So, I think that the Sumitomo's will do the trick (205/50/16). It doesn't hurt that they look cool - I'm turning 40 soon - I need all the help I can get to attract chicks :-) And after I get used to them, I'll add a rear sway bar. small changes ...

The Sumitomos are $69 each 220 treadwear. That's not going to last as long as you might think. Depends on how you drive and your roads. Ok for dry traction and handling but not the quickest for track or wet weather.
Nice tread design.
In the same size there are still other choices given longer treadwear to justify slightly higher prices. However if constrained by budget than that's not going to fully help.
BF Goodrich g-Force Sport
$85 each 340 treadwear
and
Fuzion ZRi $77 each 320 treadwear
Tests-

Or even an UHP All Season tire-
BF Goodrich Super Sport A/S $99 each 400 treadwear
Kumho ASX $81 each 420 treadwear

The treadwear really doesn't bother me. If I only get 20,000 off them that's just fine. I expense most of my mileage anyway. So, my costs of ownership are mostly covered this way.

Yeah I agree. I like the design on the General's and Fuzions too.
