caliper color on DS MINI

im trying to decide which color to paint the calipers on my dark silver cooper S with silver Kosei wheels, im debating between blue and red. red is over used and the koesi stickers are blue, picture would be great

Black...
Just me, but black is about the only color that looks good behind a set of wheels. Granted, there are some exceptions (911 GT3RS and things of the such) but black just hides the caliper so well behind a set of wheels. But, you seem set on either blue or red. I'd still go red because even though it is overdone, blue to me would look weird and it would only match the stickers. Silver and red go together nicely.

I agree - black. Just bought the caliper paint kit from Tire Rack and debated long and hard about what color would work best on my DS. It came down to red or yellow, then my wife, the professional designer, said I should go with black. It was a V8 moment.

Between blue and red? I'd definitely go red.

There aren't many cases which red calipers don't look amazing.

The best caliper color is anything that suits you.

More subtle-
Black (flat or glossy)
Silver

Less subtle-
Gold
Bronze
Bright Silver

More flashy-
Red
Blue
Green
Yellow
orange
purple
White
Checkerboard
Striped

More unique
Dark anthracite
Body color Dark silver
Chrome

Those Kosei stickers come off without too much trouble. I used 3M spary adhesive remover and a single edge razor blade. Then I covered the blue valve stems (mostly) with cheap 'chrome' valve stem sleeves from Wally Mart. The blue just didn't work with my Chili Red. I fugure I get away with red calipers on a red car.

You are aware that the yellow Porsche brakes (PCCB) don't only come on the RS and are an option on all Porsches. I wouldn't say that the calipers are meant to be "hidden" behind a set of wheels. I find that colored calipers really make the look of the wheel "pop." For example, friend of mine painted the brakes on his 997 yellow to match the interior bits and it makes his black SportDesigns really pop.

Oh yeah and, I'm not a fan of painted stock calipers unless they're the "BBK"kind (Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo, Aston Martin, etc.). So, I'd say either silver or black. If your interior is Lapis Blue I think blue brakes would be a nice touch. That's the color I would use if i ever got a BBK...

^I know. It's just that the RS has been in the spotlight more often than any other Porsche in here recently.

I painted the hub and caliper silver on mine. It doesn't stand out like other colors do but it blends with the wheels I have which is what I wanted. My gallery has a picture of one.

I repectfully disagree. But how boring would the world be if all our cars were the same?

I can think of one. Usually when its a DIY paint job and the surface looks like a red textured mess. IMHO the only time red calipers look good is when they are finished such that they look like a high gloss enamel.

Anybody ever seen white calipers? A non-car obsessed friend mentioned white calipers, and it got me thinking... It'd look pretty hot on HB/W, but how hard is it to clean painted calipers?

If you were going to go with a color you should have some accents of the same color for it to look right. If the calipers are the only red (or blue, or...) on the car, it would look like they are out of place.

I don't think I'd do white calipers unless I had some really reliable wheel cleaner and was fanatical about cleaning them - they'd look really dirty/ugly really fast. That said, cleaning behind the Kosei K-1s shouldn't be that difficult - they're pretty open.
