More sidewall for pot hoole stricken Chicago roads
More sidewall for pot hoole stricken Chicago roads
A friend commutes daily from NW Indiana to Chicago. She has killed two S-lights in the last year. She has decided to go non run flats. I know that the stock tire is 215-45R17 We talked about going to a 215-50R17 to help get more sidewall to protect the rims from Chicago's infamous car killing pot holes. Any thoughts?
Stock tire size for 17's is 205/45R17. I suggest moving down to 16's or even 15's to save your wheels from pothole.

My MCS has been wearing standard Cooper 175/65/15s for the winter, and keeping back far enough from the cars in front so that I have time to dodge the potholes. I'd suggest saving the Slites for spring summer and fall, and getting a cheap/used set of 15's for the winter.
