Throwing some ideas around for painting my wheels...
Just figured i'd post an update. Bolts are still holding up fine after having been re-used at least twice, none walking back out and all still holding their torque just fine. Paint has been holding up great too! ChrisMCS04, you get yours done yet?
I used Martin Senour(owned by sherwin williams) brand automotive paint. I used the following items:
TE504 Self etching primer
TP520 Primer
Prism single stage polyurethene industrial grade color
I sprayed the etching primer with my Sharpe Cobalt gun that i use just for etching primers
The TP520 primer was sprayed using my Sharpe Titanium primer gun
The Prism single stage was sprayed using my Iwata LPH400LVX with the correct cap for thicker metallic single stage paints.
Keep in mind those part numbers are for Martin Senour only which is only available at NAPA stores. The gold i custom mixed for myself since that's one of my jobs...paint and body specialist. If you opt for the sherwin version they use different part numbers but it's the same product. I usually go with base coat clear coat, but i've used the Prism single stage for motorcycle wheels and frames with excellent luck in the past. It's meant for industrial applications so it holds up great to abuse.
