Tire Questions from a Newbie???

I am a new proud owner of a 2002 silver MCS!!! YAY!!! However haven't had much driving time due to a tire blow out on the way home from the dealership I purchased it from. Darn those Pirelli run flats....!!! I am to pick up my car tomorrow as they ordered a new one at the dealership it was towed back to. I am sure this has been asked a million times over and have searched a bit but I could read forever...so I was wondering if anyone can tell me if I can get a different size tire for my mini which currently has 205/45/17 wondering if 215/45/17 will work or any other sizes would work to fit on my vehicle and which ones you guys found had good ride and not too much noise??? thanks ahead of time!! and glad to be part of the club

Oh Ps: is there a alternative to carrying a spare tire in the back? I was thinkin of getting a compressor and a can of flat tire goo to pack around incase of a flat?

215/45R17 will work just fine. I suggest the Falken 912 if you need an all season tire and the Falken FK452 if it's a summer tire you want. Both tires are very quiet and do very well in wet and dry conditions. Also, carrying a compressor or a can of fix-a-flat is a good idea once you go non-runflat tires.

One of these and a set of wax plugs would be a great idea, refrain from selant unless absolutly necessary.

Agree with Alex on the "no goo sealant" comment. What a mess inside the tire and a very temporary solution. An inexpensive wax seal or rawhide strip kit and a small air compressor is the best solution I've found. I have a temp spare but plugging the hole is faster than changing a tire and make a pretty good permanent seal. I've used the plugs for years on my Jeeps with success.
