Polishing alloys to a satin finish?
Polishing alloys to a satin finish?
Hello everybody,
I know that you can polish a wheel to an almost chrome like appearance but is it possible to get a nice even satiny finish from polishing or would it just appear swirly?

I imagine it would be pretty hard to achieve a satin finish if you're planning on taking the regular steps to polishing wheels. It'd be hard to avoid the swirls and the uneven finish without going to the light polish which would lead to the reflective finish.
It would also be a pain to keep them halfway-polished as they are exposed to air and water....i have a hard enough time re-polishing my polished lips all the time.
One option would be to fully polish and then add a matte clearcoat. That would seal it too so you wouldnt have to keep polishing the wheels.
