changing wheels

I am planning on replacing my wheels. I have a 2006 jcw with stock 17in wheels. The wheels I am might get are 17 x7 40 offset and 73mm center bore. The vendor provides no hardware. I am told I will need hub rings and smaller lug nuts because these are tuner wheels. These wheels are on ebay the seller is elitemotoracing the wheels are evoke m-5. Very cheap price so I am worried about the quality. What additional hardware would I need and any opinions on these wheels would be appreciated.

You will need a set of hubcentric rings. That's a common size so you should have no problem. You will need a 73->56.1 ring.

I don't know about the whole tuner thing. I don't think there is any reason your current lugs wouldnt work.

As is true with many of the cheap "good deal" wheels on ebay, Evoke is a low quality wheel company. Typically ebay "tuner" wheels are even a step down from the OEM wheels in quality and finish...but they do look nice and custom. You get what you pay for.

Thanks for the info. They told me my lugs would be to large. If you buy low quality wheels what problems will arise? Will they bend or break easily.

Yes, that's possible and the finish will deteriorate quicker.

Depends on the production date of your car... late 2006 cars (after May production I think) had 14mm lugs - older cars had 12mm lugs. Many tuner wheels don't have large enough holes for the 14mm lugs - requiring you to either re-bore the holes, or get some 14/12mm conversion studs.

Yes, and generally the paint finish is very a very thin paint that is prone to chipping. I used to have a cheap pair of rims before i switched to BBS wheels and the clearcoat went bad as well and started to peel after only a year.
