Have an 03 MCS with 17" crown spokes from an 07.....want to upgrade to something lighter....I have been looking at a number of 16 and 17 inch wheels with an offset of 42 ..( ASA, BBS are the first that come to mind) .the crown spokes have an offset of 48 and fit nicely within the wheel well....if I go to a 42 offset will the top of the wheels extend past the fender lips ? I want this to look correct and since I am probably going to pop for some big bucks , I would like to be spot on in my choice....any response and pics of a 42 offset would be nice..thanks

 

16x7 or 17x7 with +42 to +45mm offset would be fine using stock suspension. Even with slightly wider than stock tires you will still be fine.
A little negative camber in the rear will help tuck in the top edge of the tire for more clearance. 205 mm wide tires also give more clearance.

Try 205/50-16 or 205/45-17 (possibly 215/45-17).
