225/50/15 on 15x17 wheel. What offset?

I am going to be running Toyo RA1s 225/50/15 on a 15x7 wheel for track days. The Team Dynamics Pro Race 1 (which fit over the Wilwoods) are available in et+35 and et+40. Does anyone know if a 40 offset is enough so the tire doesn't rub the strut? I figured I would go with the 35 offset and I shouldn't have any problems on the inside, and since the tire is about 1/2" shorter overall I am hoping I won't have to trim the fenders. Anyone have any experience?

I have a set of 15x7 +38's that currently have 205-55-15, real close in oveall diameter to your 225-50-15, but narrower......

If I'm pushing it hard on the track, or fully loaded and having fun on the dragon, the rear's will just kiss the plastic trim on the fenders, but just barely. (Stock ride height here, just over 1 deg negative camber). I'd expect your 225-50-15's to touch on the rears like that too, maybe a bit worse. Now, if you changed over to the 225/45/15's you'd have plenty of clearance. I've had great luck with that size for track tires.

I have 225/50R16s on 16x7 SSRs W/42mm offset...
Should be the same width as your combo- Just an inch taller.
They don't rub on the front struts or the rear trailing arms. However, I had to trim the inside of the rear bumper where it meets the wheel well arch. Now it doesn't rub anywhere.

I think a 35mm offsett would cause this combo to rub the arches as the suspension compresses : (

I run 225-50-15's on +38 kosei k1r's at stock ride height and under heavy loading from cornering they will rub the interior of th back fenders but only slightly. Although it sounds bad, it sort of whittled off the plastic where needed and now they're good. I would try the +40 and use a small spacer if needed to clear the struts.

Thanks guys. The more I keep researching I have read that 15x7 et40 with 225s rubs the rear control arm. I think I am going to stick with the 35 offset and go with 225/45/15 tires and trim if necessary. 225/45/15 is 1.4" shorter than stock, so it will help my gearing and lower the car a little on the track.

I highly doubt that setup will require ANY trimming, you should be in great shape. You will also love the gearing from the shorter tires, I know I do!
