Roll call - 8"+ wide wheels
I thought it would be a good idea to make a thread for those of you who are running wheels with a width of 8 inches or more. Wide wheels isn't commonplace here on NAM and it can be challenging to find info if you're looking to go this route. I'm hoping we can create some sort of a database where one can find info on wide(r) wheel/tire setups.
So, if your running wide wheels, whether they are staggered or not, post all the specs and a pic of your ride. For example: Wheel/Model: BBS LM Offset: 30 Wheel Size: 17x8, 17x9 Tire Size: 205/40/17, 215/40/17 Suspension: KW Coils dropped appx. 2" Camber Settings: -1.5 F, -2.5 R Rubbing: No Pic: Insert Pic here *NOTE* The above is purely made up for the sake of showing an example. |
I'll start us off... Hopefully Rally will keep us going
*NOTE* This is off memory, I'll look into it when I'm not here at the office.
Former member, D6-MCS. Wheel/Model: Keskin KT4 Offset: ET35 F, ET25 R Wheel Size: 17x8, 17x9 Tire Size: 205/40/17, 215/40/17 (Bridgestone Potenza S-03) Suspension: KW Coils dropped appx. 2.5" Camber Settings: -? F, -? R Rubbing: Cutting it close Pic: http://mkippen.com/gallery%5Ccarshoo...g_1174copy.jpg |
Guess I'll post my pictures and stats yet again  Gonna probably be changing to new wheels next spring since these come off for winter soon.
Wheel/Model: BBS RM012 2-piece rims with custom Schmidt lips Offset: ET13 F, ET8 R Wheel Size: 15x8, 15x8.5 Tire Size: 205/50/15 on all four (Dunlop direzza) Suspension: Megans drop=I dont know....a lot 2.5"+ Camber Settings: -2.5 F, probably -1.5 ? R Rubbing: None up front...a little in the rear because i haven't set the camber to my specs yet. Arches were trimmed http://motorme.net/gallery/main.php/d/150-1/camb.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2227/...86fdbc14_o.jpg http://mr-battle.com/photography/Ral...ot/rallys8.jpg http://konkyphotography.com/webphoto...G_3240good.jpg |
Thanks for the post Rally. So no one else out here is running wide wheels and a nice drop? Tire stretch or poke isn't a necessity to be part of this. Just a wide wheel in general...
Anyone? |
There are a few people out there running the 949 Racing 6UL in 15x8. The 949 website mentions a 15x10 coming soon.

Yes, there is a SCCA DSP car running 15x10's and Hoosier 275/35/15 tires. Lots of cutting for this setup. I am sure somebody has pics out there....

Minihune posted them, an electric blue MCS right? Looks terrible IMO, does it actually help at the autox? But yes, from what I hear the 275 Hoosiers produce some pretty amazing levels of grip! Jason |

If I wanted fast and a good handling car I would've gotten a beater CRX stripped it, done suspension mods, sohc with built internals and boosted running 11s all day long and destroying most of the cars at the local auto-x. All for less than I've spent in mods on my MCS. BUT, at the end of the day it's still an old pos crx... Back to wide wheels and looking good. |

IMO, there's no point in going fast if you look like **** (in a DD at least). Wide wheels are all about LOOKing good. If speed is your thing, go for it, with MCS I'm more interesting in looks right now...

Rally your wheels are some hard SOBs to find. I started looking about and could barely find any. I found some, but they are all foreign.

If you do find any let me know. And keep me in mind when you get rid of yours if ever.

If you think its ALL about the LOOKS your only half enjoying the MINI! Oh believe me I'm enjoying my MINI to the fullest, there's more than a couple 350Z, G35, GTi, SRT4, WRX, etc. owners that can vouch for that  Go low or go home! Hahah |

Ca$per do you have any side shots available. (View down the side from front or rear.)
I am going to call on some 18x8 Giovanni rims that are missing the center caps tomorrow. Thanks |

Looking great Ca$per! They really give the car a "baller" look with the polished lip.
Glad I could help you out. |
Thanks Ca$per:thumbsup:

Alot of fabulous cars in this thread!!
I have an R56 as you can see. I have H&R springs that have dropped me about 1.5 inches. I am thinking of going up a size in tires. From.. 205 45 17 to.. 215 45 17 Goodyear Eagle F1 I will use my 7 inch wide wheels. Good idea or bad?? |
well....wrong post...but that doesnt really matter i guess.
What are you hoping to achieve by going with the slightly wider tire? what is your goal? |

It might work....really depends on personal opinion in this case. I'm not a big fan of the larger sidewall that you would get from going up a size....but that's just me.
I have many options to consider. I will check other threads for more info... |
8 inch wheels with stock suspension
8x15 +15 offset wheels
205/ 50/ 15 tires sport max go to my photo gallery to view pictures. Can someone reply with instructions on how to download pictures? |
Bassles, excellent wheel pics in your gallery.:eek2:
Thanks-Mr. D |
I love this thread. I was wondering if anyone has done a low offset with a stretch tire on an R56 MCS. I have and R56 and was considering a set of 16 or 17 inch Work Meister's. I would like to wider in the rear maybe a 16x8 in the front and 16x9 in the rear with stretched tires and some poke. The R56 looks a little bigger than the R53 so I may decide to go with 17's. Any suggestions you guys have will be great. Or pics of a similar setup on an R56 will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

A unique look that we don't see enough of in the Mini Community. If you upload photos to the gallery on NAM (or anywhere else on the internet) you can post them in any thread if you open the individual picture...right click and select "copy image address" and then insert it between |
You gotta get springs or something though....that's like 4 inches of wheel gap. It would look a lot better and make the wheels look like they fit better

Question about the Megan's, do you get any rubbing (with suspension components) with any of the stock wheels? |
