Those sizes should still be okay. Still under 3% diff in rolling diameter. Your speedo will just be slower. Would have been closer to stock sizes with a 40 sectional.

Rally@StanceDesign 07-02-2009 10:31 AM

225/45/17 won't be a big issue, but it certainly won't be visually attractive. That's a lot of sidewall for 17's

Image BPS split rims. 18x8's on the rear. Only 7.5 on the fronts though fitted with 215 35 18. Just needs a little more drop on the front though yet.

True story, but on his 1st gen MINI the clearance is not exactly the same in the wheelwells.

After about 30 lovely hrs of pulling these apart and re siliconing them etc. I finally put them on the car. I've had them sitting in boxes for about 4 years and recently took the plunge to get the perfect , but not my taste , polished wheels powder coated and mounted with a set of Falken rt 615's that the local rep wanted a review of . The wheels are 17/ 8 and a billet 3 piece by a company in the UK called Super Lite. They have been making race wheels for many years now and have all kinds of styles. I put the first 100 miles on them this weekend to get the shine off them and will go at it harder next weekend but I can already say they will stick a lot better than my other set. This set will be the " faster " option between my " fast " and " fastest " set :)

Ouww!

Thanks, I was hoping you'd say 225/45 or 235. I just got some Toyo R888s in 235/40-17 to fit on 17x8. I will pray to the Car Gods they fit.

e30r56 10-04-2009 08:37 PM

Forgot to ask too, r56 or older? I think you will be fine on an r56, but not sure on the older cars.

I actually saw that on m|u ! What's the specs on that? Wheel size? Offset? Suspension mods? Spacers? Tire size?

Motor On 01-15-2010 12:28 PM

Please keep in mind, that this like any modification, has the potential to be illegal in your state, as well as exceed your manufacturers recommended specifications, and you should exercise caution and good judgment accordingly.

That said, lets get those specs and see some more photos posted.....

MrCooperS 01-16-2010 05:09 PM

I'm looking into the Raderwerks P-90s after a set of VMAXX coilovers. I haven't ever seen them on a MINI before. They can be found here: http://www.raderwerks.com/

The offset does't seem right though. Here's the specs I'm looking at:

Front / Rear
16x7.5 / 16x9
ET 30 / ET15
4x100

What do people think? Will it fit?

::edit:: I did some search and found some people who got it work. But I was wondering if you'd need spacers or anything like that. Found them here: http://www.motoringunderground.com/f...ad.php?t=12080

Rally@StanceDesign 01-16-2010 05:35 PM

No spacers needed for those offsets. They're plenty low enough. You don't need spacers to make them lower.

Those are pretty close to the specs that Wanderer ran on his keskins.

Obviously you'll need to pay close attention to the rear stretch as it's very necessary to fit them with such a low offset. You'd be running 10mm more poke than the sparkling silver car above.

Yeah I saw Wanderer's MINI. I think he used 215/40/16s for tires for front and rear right?

Did he use rear adjustable control arms? Or did he leave the camber the way it is once he dropped it?

Yah he used 215/40 toyos for those. He's running 205/40 falken 512's now on his rear 16x9's. The stretch is pretty intense on that setup.

I'm pretty sure he left the camber once he lowered it. I'm not 100% certain. He's at like -4.5 or something around there right now on his RS's.

hardingsan, do you have any rubbing? how close is the rear to rubbing? What make and model tires? Thanks!

hardingsan 01-18-2010 05:19 AM

there's the slightest of rubs whenever i go over large bumps at high speed, but it's just the tire on the fender liner. whenever the tires wear out i'll probably go to a 40 series tire of some sort though.

honestly, i'm not quite sure the make and model of the tire. they came with the wheels. they're currently in storage at my dad's for the winter, but i'll try and go dig them up.

Rally, your clubman is on airbags, right? Does all that camber even out a little when the car is up for driving?

Rally@StanceDesign 01-19-2010 05:35 PM

Yah it's on airbags and the camber changes when raised. It's at 6 when parked, around 4-4.5 when driving.
