My local powdercoat guy charged $60 per center. I had to do the disassembly myself as he isn't a wheel/tire guy, so I took him clean centers and he did a quick sand, spray and bake with the color I brought him + a coat of clear powder on top (because it was a metallic powder and would oxidize). Most places will have black powder, so you won't have to provide your own.

PS: I use the BBQ grill paint on my Wilwood calipers that had seen better days... that stuff holds up like iron to everything EXCEPT brake fluid! At least it's a quick mask and spray job to touch 'em up.

What does anyone think about painting my S-lites black on my Dark Silver/White MCS?

I have 20% tint, so the black would compliment the dark windows. But I wonder if the car needs light colored wheels to pull it together properly!

And also, what about gloss? What would look the best, in your opinions?

Hmmm, I'm not a fan of the white roof. I'd vote to paint the wheels AND roof gloss black. But my opinion is tainted.

Here's my R99s Painted them before tires it's been two years and they're just needing a refresher coat now. About $5 for 3 rattle cans of the chep advance auto flat black.

How much sanding and priming have people had to do to get a good flat black surface on their wheels? Kinda interested in trying this on my wheels....

Mine where just really clean, then I hit them up with some QD and a microfiber to make sure there wasn't any trace of dust left behind.

Check out this thread. Red Bull has excellently done rims (did 'em himself I believe).

Wow....thanks for the quick responses! I'll be sure to check that out. Also if you know anybody with the R84/Y-spokes that they've blacked out I'd like to see some pics!

Hey jaegirrl,

I got a 03 MCS with the same wheels you have on yours and these have been painted black and personal opinion I dont care for them. I would like to find a set of chrome wheels or stock 8 spoke and swap em out or buy out right. Anyone with some 8 spoke wheels close to Dallas Fort Worth who want to sell them ? I am a buyer if the price is cheap enough.

Terry ..... Give me a PM
