What a difference metal hubcentric rings make
They were torqued to 103 lb-ft as specified for the R56. I watched Sullivan's Tire guys torque them in the air.
Further evidence that it wasn't an installation problem was that they were fine at the beginning of the trip, but vibration started and progressively got worse after about 200 miles. Same thing happened on the return trip after alignment was checked at Discount Tire in Los Angeles.

I know this is resurrecting a super old thread...but the reason this happens is because with aluminum wheels the lugs should be RE-torqued after a 100 miles or so...that figure varies from who you talk to. I had the same problem on my SHO until I started to retorque the lugs after 50-60 miles whenever i would take the wheels off for anything...problem solved no rings needed. Whether you have rings or not this is a good idea because lugs do come loose and things shift after you drive. Like other people have mentioned, torque them in the air BOTH times, torque them each a little at a time, don't go whole hog right off the bat.
