Direct TPMS for week32+ (september delivery) cars?
The sticky TPMS update says that cars sold after September must have direct TPMS systems. Some quick googling shows that the rule is "after September 1st". My car is scheduled to arrive sometime in early/mid september, and I wanted to order some Rota Boosts to have ready to install the day I drive it home. Is this a dangerous proposition? Might I find myself in a jam where the TPMS sensors are incompatible?
More googling reveals that the sticky here on this forum might not be correct: some of the stuff I've read indicates that Sept 1 2007 marks the date that 100% of cars must have TPMS, not necessarily direct TPMS.
What say you in-the-know folks?

Indirect systems are not efficient enough to detect when all four tires are flat or at the same low pressure. BMW has not shown us a direct sensor useage in Mini, we have plenty of thier BMW branded system we use in several modles.

even with direct TPMS you can still run aftermarket wheels.. You can install the TPMS sensor with a "wheel band" around the barrel.. This is what is done for cars that go with aftermarket wheels that don't all the sensor to be attached regularly..
