This weekend I competed in the street tire class with my MCS. I have Kumho Ecsta MX 215/45/17 tires. On Sunday the temp. got up to 95 and my tires felt like they were loosing traction as my runs progressed. I was getting a lot of wheelspin coming out of the corners. I was careful to try to avoid understeer. I started with F38 R 40 and ended with F 45 and R 47 without adding air. Anyway at the end of the day I noticed little ridges of rubber along the first outside block on the outside of the front tires. Were the tires running too hot and if so how can I remedy it?

It certainly sounds like they were warm.

Using a probe type pyrometer to guage tread temperature across the tire. Compairng the center, inner and outer temperatures can tell us if the car was set up in those conditions, and that track.

Its reasonalble to expect a street tire, under lapping condtitions, and 90 Degress, and (I assume) direct sunlight may get a bit slippery.
