15x5.5 inch wheel question...

Hello everyone. I have a quick question or two concerning the stock 15 in ch holey wheels. Their dimensions are 15x5.5, of course. I'm intending to put them on my MCS for snow-related duty. Would they benefit from spacers of a specific size to clear anything, or even to bring them out a little to get closer to the edge of the wheel wells?

Looks like you have a JCW car...

These wheels won't fit over JCW brakes.

I just have the JCW engine package, not the brakes or suspension.

If you have stock MCS brakes then you can use 15" holey rims and you will not need any spacers.

The 15" stock rims are fine for daily street use or for winter tires. In fact for winter tires they make more sense since narrow tires help to cut through the snow much better than when using 17x7 rims and wider tires.

I use 15" stock rims and stock tires for daily use in wet or dry and they work just fine, plus they are very light weight so they brake and accelerate easily and I get my best mpg using them. Just don't corner too fast.

Thanks Minihune. Say I was to use them for Auto-X duty, and/or was vain about how they looked on the car...what size spacer would bring it out just a little bit closer to the edge of the wheel wells?

What sized winter tires are you getting? If they are 24.4" tire diameter or less and you use only stock suspension then-

You can use a 5mm spacer front and rear to widen the track a little and still not need to replace your lug bolts for ones that are longer- so you get enough tread depth to hold the wheels.

5mm should be easy to find for 4x100 bolt pattern.
