Yes, ANOTHER stupid tire question from me...
Yes, ANOTHER stupid tire question from me...
It doesn't look like I'm going to be able to find a buyer for my Dunlop Sport 5000 DSSTs with only 2000 miles on them...so...
Would those make decent cold-weather tires? It rarely snows here in Hampton Roads...and although I was able to avoid the annual trek to Ohio to spend time with the outlaws, I might not be so lucky come December.
Should I hold onto the runflats for use as cold-weather tires?

Depends where in Ohio...if you go towards Cleveland or to the east, probably a dedicated snow tire might be better.
On the otherhand, I ran mine to the Akron area [60 miles south of Cleveland] for a year on weekends and they worked out just fine....
The only big problem is that in cold weather, the already hard ride is just compounded...it's like adding lead to round concrete "wheels".

You forgot about all the construction patched asphalt which adds to the texture of the ride. The turnpike remains decent.
I still have the runflats, in the basement, as a small work table stand. The runflats mushroomed the towers. Runflats might be nice in, say South Carolina in the boonies where the roads are perfect. In Ohio, use somewhere other than on the MINI.
Just my opinion.
