Upgraded Brake Calipers....
Does anyone know of any Calipers that are available that fit the stock size rotors? When considering looks vs. Performance, I would really like to replace my rotors with something like the SBC or Power slot rotors, uprade the brake pads and then upgrade to a nicer looking caliper than stock. I don't really want to go to the "Big Brake" kits because of cost/weight and the requirement for 17" rims. I just want a resonable, good looking AutoX performing brake system. Anyone know of any perrty calipers?
You can use the stock calipers and just paint them to look custom. Add brake pads and rotors for better performance.

I got this kit and the only thing I'd recommend is that you get a different paint brush. Use a cheap one though because you are going to need to throw it out once the paint on the brush hardens. Looks great.
Thanks guy's. I will probably just paint mine for now. I had considered that before but I wouldn't mind spending a few hundered dollars to buy new aftermarket calipers that would fit the stock size rotor... Stock calipers painted still don't look near as good as a nice aftermarket aluminum caliper. I think someones missing a market niche here. It would be nice to choose your own rotors, several are available for stock size and then be able to pick and choose the caliper and pads you want to use. This way you have the most options and are not forced into a specific setup like Stop Tech or Brembo and the cost would be much less.
Its fairly easy to do. the most hazardous things are that you want to remove all corrosion from the caliper before painting. Its commonly done with a wire brush. I have used one on a corded drill to make quick work of the cleanup. Watch out for anything rubber when you use a drill and brush.
Waste an entire can of brake clean on the calipers after cleaning and before painting. ***Ventilate the area your cleaning in when using brake clean***
I mix the 2 part paint up, and get 1 coating on, give it 2 hours to cure, and coat everything again. Use all the paint, as its has a short shelf life.
if you spill on your garage floor, let it dry.
Its enamel, and much easier to clean when its hardened.

>>how hard is it to do this?
>>i'm not much of a mechanic,
>>do you have to do anything with the calipers that could be potentially dangerous?
>>i want to do this, but i'm kinda nervous!
