205/50-16

I need some help, I ordered a set of Bobert 16 x 6.5 web wheels for my new R56 MC, (that hasent arrived yet by the way, just my way of keeping sane while waiting).
I found a chart that says that the standard 195/55-16 tire can be replaced with a 205/50-16. Why would you do that you might ask? Cost, the 50 series tire is about 45% less.
Dose anyone know why this would be a problem, diameter is 24.07in., stock is 24.66, well within the 3% tolerance.

Any info would be greatly appricated.

It seems that a lot of MINI owners choose that size when ditching their 16" runflats, and I'll probably go that route, as well.

It's not a problem - lots of threads about it. You can go for a 205/50 or 205/55 - they are within 2% on either side of the OEM tire. 50 series will give slightly better acceleration, slightly worse mileage. 55 series will have the opposite effect.
