For sale is our 2003 Mini Cooper S affectionately known as "Grumpy." We've owned Grumpy since Feb 2019 and have put around 50k miles on him in that time. He is Liquid Yellow over charcoal/anthracite leather. Whe is well optioned with heated seats and automatic climate control. Originally equipped with HK audio, the amp and headunit were already missing by the time he came to us. The amp harness is there and has been bypassed to work with the Sony headunit and Cerwin Vega front components speakers. The rear speaker are still original HK units.

Drivetrain consists of the original 1.6L supercharged engine and 6 speed manual gearbox. Shortly after we acquired Grumpy the clutch was replaced with a Valeo single mass conversion kit. The transmission fluid was changed at the time. Currently the transmission does exhibit a good bit of gear noise, but still shifts smoothly without grinding. I believe it's coming from the final drive as there is also noticeable slop when getting on and off the throttle. there is a spare, low mileage (67k, IIRC) 6 speed that can be had with the vehicle. The caveat is that the case is broken and the shifter assembly is seized. 

The engine runs well, and is mostly dry. There is a small leak from between the engine and transmission. The supercharger was serviced about 3.5 years ago and was in good condition. The waterpump and thermostat were replaced at that time, and the waterpump drive coupler was checked and found tight at that time. The valve cover assbly was replaced with an OE Mini part, and the oil pan with an aftermarket part. The oil filter housing has also been resealed. The drive belt, belt tensioner, and idler pulley have all been replaced. Also the alternator was replaced last year with a remanufactured Bosch unit. A new Denso AC condenser was installed during our ownership, as well. Oil has been changed very 5-6k miles.

Interior is indecent shape, but does show some wear and seam repair on the driver's  seat. Seat heaters both function. No major damage, though the LF bass speaker grill is cracked. I have the correct aluminum HK grills that can be included with the sale. The door panels have been updated the facelight panels with the larger armrests. All weather Mini front floor mats and cargo liner are included. A cargo cover is also included. AC blows cold and cruise control works. The fuel gauge doesn't read when it's below approx 40 degrees due to a problem with the right side sending unit.

Underneath the vehicle is clean and devoid of any major rust. The rear subframe does show a lot of surface rust, but is still solid. Overall the suspension is pretty tired. There is a strut mount making noise, and most of the rubber is original. I did replace the rear trailing arm bushings. The front brake pads and rotors were just replaced in April. Wheels and tires are 16" off of a 2011 Cooper S Clubman with excellent condition Kumho all season tires. Exhaust is custom built 2.25" cat-back using 401 stainless and a Magnaflow resonator and a Magnaflow muffler. The tips are repurposed from an F15 BMW X5. It has a nice tone and isn't too loud, but does drone a little bit under load at higher rpms on the highway.

The body is the biggest let down. Prior to our ownership Grumpy has some sub-par paint work on the nose and the right quarter panel. The quarter panel has lost almost all of its clear coat and shows a rust spot along the front edge of the wheel arch. All moldings are present, the headlights are Depo black trimmed halogen projector assemblies that do have levelling. The doors and hatch were replaced with good condition grey parts due to rust or damage. All other lights are functioning and in good condition. The front side markers were replaced this past April. The sunroof is in working condition, but rattles a bit when closed due to broken plastic guides.
