Mini R53: "Mk I" Mini Cooper S 2002 - 2006
Description:

Im selling an rmw intercooler.  Its an oem mini intercooler but it has a heat coating to lower the time it takes to recover from heat.  $150 picked up in san jose ca or $180 shipped in u.s.  in great shape, less than 1500 miles on it.

Any data or testing that shows how much of a difference the coating makes regarding recovery time? Interesting, but I've not seen this option covered on the forums.

Thanks,

Thanks,
It's a topic covered on NAM!

Dr. Obnoxious was a big proponent of the thermal coating on i/c ---

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post2103920

"I measured about the same temp delta as keith (k-huevo) during data logging session. If you think it's about 1% increase in air density, that's about 1-2 HP at well under $100. I do it to every IC I've run (stock and GP). It's relatively cheap, can't hurt and can help."

Another thread where JumpingJackFlash had one coated:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post3106305

Maybe even a thread about the RMW unit specifically somewhere?

But,
empirical evidence or testing seems to be lacking so it's one of those things that falls under subjective interpretation of usefulness.

I like the idea of it and do think such a coating may be beneficial.

I honestly did not do any testing, but it’s a part sold by RMW and I trust his products. I’m just returning the car back to mostly stock is the reason I’m selling it.
