Deleting a post

how does one go about this?

I don't think you can actually delete a post without a moderator's help. You can "edit" away it's contents, but the "footprint" will still remain. Either way, I think that if anyone quoted your original post, your words will live on in posterity in their post....

another reason to think twice before hitting that "submit button!

well no I actually quoted myself on accident. So in it's place I just put a . But it's more or less a useless post. Nothing bad that I typed.

Contact the forum thread admin. The admin can delete the post. If no harm done then don't worry about it. It happens...especially to new posters
