2007 Mini Cooper S
Turbocharged 4 cyl 1.6L engine
143,500 miles.
3rd owner, purchased Oct. 2016 w/90,000 miles on it.
This is being sold as a project car as my mechanic says it likely needs a head gasket replacement.
Actually, I suspect the timing chain guides may have gotten brittle and broken.
Engine has quite the rattle when running, original timing chain guides were replaced in 2012 @ approx. 50,000 miles.
Car has not been driven since Dec. 12th when this situation began.
It’s been a very good daily driver but at 15 years old I’m going to move on and replace it.
For the right person this car might be a good opportunity to either repair and drive or repair and flip.
It has many new maintenance parts installed in the last two to three years; alternator, battery, tires, coolant pump, thermostat, coolant pipe, knock sensor, both O2 sensors, and shocks/spring assemblies @ all four wheels and spark plugs & ignition coils installed in Dec. 2022.
Car has had regular synthetic oil & filter changes every 5,000 miles and the tires still have a fair amount of tread.
