jacking up MINI w/aero kit.

so... time has come to start working on hte car again... although this time i have to bust out the racing jack and jackstands. Previously i went to my buddies garage that had a hydrolic 4 point lift.

any way... how do you guys do it if you have an aero kit. I've got a racing jack so i can do the 2x4 right under the unibody frame weld under the side skirts but when i do that it puts a crapload of pressure on the side skirt and i don't really like that...

so what do most of you do?

p.s. i did do a search but it didn't turn up anything usefull.

I use a low profile aluminum floor jack. It is just low enough to get to the front lift blocks on my friend's H-Sport springs equiped MCS. I place stands under the front subframe and rear lift block, then repeat on the other side.

When I visit Helix, I noticed they drive lowered cars on wood riser blocks to allow clearance for their 2-post lift arms.

well I've got an thin profile al racing jack from harbor freight... my problem is that with the method i have read...

I put a 2x4 on top of the jack, and put it under the side skirt right under the weld point. When i start to jack the car up. it compresses the gap between the side skirt and the door panel and makes a creaking noise.

I just really don't like that look or noise and i feel like im going to trash my side skirts. Am i just being paranoid?

p.s. I guess i don't understand your description of how you do it... can you explain clearer for my not so bright ar$e?

Here is what I have done

Don't know if this idea gets you where you want to go. Works perfectly for me since I do a lot of track related maintanence that requires jacking the car. http://www.bmwpugetsound.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=30429
