Yea Michael, ... but we were not talking about braking, just throtle steer. Braking in a corner is a huge no-no. Braking just before turn in is good.
I trail brake the Mini in Big bend at LRP with good results myself. that's with factory bushings.

Jeezo - it's amazing how you decide just to do the "simple" mods and then everything spirals downhill from there...I guess I see why some people stay stock!

Is replacing the front bushings an easy job? Also how do you tell if they are worn?

Thanks for keeping the info flowing!

My car is the most unstable plateform I've ever driven under braking in a straight line - sort of what I meant to write.

meb, i know that we discussed this threshold braking problem in another thread. for those who missed my experience.....while running toyo ra-1's (205/40/17), it was nearly frightening under threshold braking from high speed. with no changes to suspension or brakes, the car became very stable and predictable when i switched to hoosier 225/40/17 RA-6's. i have no idea why.....anyone with more experience than me, or a better understanding of the physics involved (although i do hold a physics degree), is welcome to postulate....i like the fact that the alta psrs worked for txwerks. i might just add that to my list when i send the car off for some major work. if you are tracking your car and don't have this unsettled condition under threshold braking, tell us your setups, wheel/tire combos, pressures, etc, so that we, too may be comfortable and the porsches that we are out-braking are uncomfortable...

My car exhibited this nature in stock form and thru all the stages of modification. The anti-dive characteristic found in the new alta bushing may or may not cure this. But as I wrote under that thread, anti-dive is necessarily a desirable trait since ant-dive alters geomerty by changing the sideview roll centers. This means that under braking, the suspension bushing and arms are loaded first, then the springs and dampers, quite the reverse of what we should do be doing. But hey, everything has its compromise.
