Thanks Gnhovis,
That's a bit of gap, but I like the way it supports the rear tire. I agree that resting the spare tire on the rear seat is not a good idea in a event of accident. I may have to get it for safety.

There is a major strength diffrence in the design of the fake brackets and the Pilo Rear Stress Bar Bracket. The Design of the Knockoff doe not have a solid bottom plate, as the stock bracket has. The could allow flex and other issues. As you can see we use a full solid plate that every thing is welded to it. This is a much stronger bracket. We are going to have stock available soon (before August). Also, Moss has created their own knock off. If you want a Pilo original look to www.piloracing.com www.outmotoring.com and www.minimania.com

These are all stocking vendors of our parts.

We have made 1 redesign on our new piece, but it will not effect the quality, or the strength.

The weight of the whole system is about 4 lbs, but you are removing about 1.5 lbs in the rear brackets, so net gains is about 2.5 which is not bad considering how light the rear of the mini is. We are also working on coming out with a carbon fiber version as well.

Thanks

The Bar and Brackets are designed to handle both directions of preload. We lengethened the bar a bit to allow for easier outward pressure.

I run the with inward preload on my car.

The Bars are shipping early next week. They are in route to me now from CA. You can place orders on the web again. The new MSRP is down to 129.00. Remember if you spend over 150 on the site, use coupon code NAM and save 5% (does not apply to some items)

Are these the normal material ones or the carbon fiber? I'd like to swap out my Moss brand one for a Pilo carbon fiber one

Any opinions on this bar from OMP? the price is right and it appears that one can tighten/loosen the tension. Looks like it would entail some drilling.

yea! that one is a nice beefy lookin' bar the points of contact are wider than ur' usual suspects, it actually touches more of the metal frame around the strut tower. no drilling just mounts........

but thats not a rear brace....

LOL, quite true joker on the strut tower brace. Does look interesting. However, scroll down about 3/4 of the way on the same page to check out the "universal rear". Let me know what you think.

Will not fit a MCS. I know from experience.

Thanks for the heads up.

Guess the reason I'm curious about this bar, is that I am looking for something that is easily removable. Back seat gone years ago. Travel a lot and bring a clown's car worth of stuff to the track, including race wheels

I know the Pilo bar is removable, yet I just can't quite picture how one can get a good tension fit at the same time that you can unbolt the ends.

I realize that under driving conditions the bar will tighten under flex. Yet somehow my brain seems to picture a bar that is full-on tight at the track.

Total Agreement.

Now look under the carpet, if you can, just behind the rear seats. If you can't then it's still easy to see the built in factory rear shock tower support in the form of a boxed section running from one shock to the other.

I just don't see that rear brace doing anything...
I've talked with drivers of gutted dedicated MINI race cars (one just yesterday) They all agree that the people who benefit from the rear bars, for MINIs, are the Companys that sell them!
