I really like that rear brace. Who's is that? It looks like it would also provide a good rear center jack point!

stock convertable chassis pieces

Wes,

The photo posted by k-huevo (Keith) is of the stock Y2005 and later MINI convertable rear subframe braces. The parts are available from your local MINI dealer if you'd like to add the braces to a non-convertable car. The biggest challenge would be to find a suitable way to mount the braces on your frame.

Hope this helps,
John Petrich in Seattle

Thanks Petrich
I guess it is to simple to think that I have all the correct threaded holes on my 03 coupe. Has anyone tried, and what level was the effort and reward.
Thanks
Wes

Ive looked under a few converts when we were tuning the USS and from what I can tell there will be some notching of the frame and some drill and tapping involved to make those parts work.

Unfortunately the convertible’s axle carrier is different than the 03 model as well as a bunch of other rear suspension components. The 05s and later have many of the same mounting points. You can see some of the differences as in the axle support here http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.d...21&hg=33&fg=30
It’s a shame the rear of the MINI is the forgotten other half.

Translated by babelfish, paraphrase for your reading pleasure.

Front lower bar and under guard set. Bolted to the front lower arm. The bracket and bar are made of steel, The underguard replaces the stock plastic piece and made from aluminum. Must be used together.

Interesting. I wish I was more familiar with the undercarriage so I could visualize the attachment points. The pictures aren't helping me.

Hope someone else knows.

The skid pan is OK.

The only place I know of on the subframe with neatly lined-up bolts like that is the front sway bar attachment points (at the control-arm attachments).

That would make the install a righteous pain in the booty.
