oldsbear...nonsense, if you exercise even minimal care, you will have no "incidents". It just depends on what you want out of the car; if a good handling car is your goal, better springs and dampers are essential. If you don't care about that, then you're good with the standard suspension.

I think you can lower your car without going nuts, and avoid scraping on everything. Dropping it an inch isn't going to increase your number of "incidents" but will be aesthetically pleasing to those who don't like a lot of wheel gap, and help to reduce body roll.

Slamming any car until you can't fit your toe underneath the bumper is one thing, but a little lower isn't going to do any damage, unless you're off-roading in it.
