Hello all! Newbie here with a newbie question!
Alrite so I am wondering that if I change the spring on my Mini Cooper S will I need to change the shocks and dampers!? Or will the stock one be able to withstand and work well with the new spring? hmm my English is not too good so I dun relaly know how to word it.. hope u all understand.
Cause I know that many of the users on this forum has had their spring changed to H&R, EiBach, etc. but haven't seen anyone mentioning that they also changed the other stuff~

adn also 1 more question, will changing the spring void Warranty?
Thx a lot!

I had the same question, and asked the guys at h-sport, and they told me that the stock shocks will work fine with their springs which lower the car by an 1". Not sure about other springs which will lower the car more though

Cheers,

I have the H Sport springs and the Madness swaybar. The OEM shocks are really pretty good, especially in the earlier models (a bit firmer), so you don't need Koni's, etc., unless you want adjustables or you are serious into tracking your car. The H Sports and swaybar changes are incredible and I highly recommend it. You will notice the understeer is dialed out and the car feels like it rotates better (around you) on turns. Also, since the H Sports lower the car 1" all around, your MCS will look better as well.

--->MX100 - the only part of the warranty that may be bunk is the shocks, though you should expect them to start dying about 50k (figure, eh?)

The H&R's are great if you do not want to change the dynamics of the suspension; they keep the spring rates similar to stock. The H-Sport's are a better choice if you wish to tune out some of the understeer, since the rear springs are firmer. Here's MM2 with H-Sport springs:

Cheers,
Ryan

I've got the H&R's. No problem what so ever with the standard shocks. I actually found the springs to be firmer than stock. I have a hard time gauging how much though, as I did the springs and rear sway bar at the same time.

Ryan, are you running 16's on your car? There seems to be a bit more gap on yours over the rear tires than on mine. Or, is there that much of a difference in the spring drop?
