H&R Spring Question

So I am looking at different H&R part numbers and according to the German website, the part number reserved for the convertible actually will work on the R50 or R53 coupe. The drop is much more substantial on the convertible part numbered spring. Does anyone know why this wouldn't work?

My guess is that it woul be a stiffer spring due to the added weight of the convertable. I have H&R Sport Springs on my R53 and they are plenty stiff. I woul go with the ones that are designed for your model if I were you. They have a nice drop as well. Check out my gallery if you want to see what to expect.

What ^ said plus as your car would be lighter yours wouldnt drop as much as the conv would.... Thats why the JCW suspension kit has difference springs dependant upon the level of factory fit spec - adjust the rating so that it gives a uniform drop...

Sounds like the coilover option may be the safest and easiest way to drop the car past 1 inch. Thanks for the input!

and the more expensive option...

Springs work fine so long as you get the right ones - i.e. not those meant for fitment to the conv if yours is the coupe....

No problems with my H&R springs with JCW shocks
