Someone is selling these on craigslist and they are brand new. I have an 07 Cooper S with the "sports suspension" are McPherson struts and coil springs an upgrade over what I currently have?

 

Not necessarily. It is just the type of suspension system most cars built after 1979 have - Got it's name from the guy who designed the system....

Maybe give the seller a call and find out if they are OEM struts or aftermarket brand.

 

Also be very careful. The springs on the MINI are determined by the weight of your specific MINI. If one MINI has a sunroof and the other doesn't, the springs are different.
