Suspension Coilover questions.
Yeah, what he said. The ride height is relatively easy to adjust, just take the tire off, each thread is 1/8 of an inch either up or down. But you want to get it all dialed in from the get go if possible; as you change ride height, your suspension settings will change along with it (i.e. camber). Best way is to do what Marc did (with Onasled's help)--get it all set the way you want it, and be done with it.
The damper settings are not as easy to adjust, at least on the rears--they are on top of the shock, so you want to make sure you have this dialed in from the start, prior to installation, as once they're in, you can't get to the top on the rears. The fronts are a piece of cake, you can get to those through the strut towers, but the rears are covered by the wheel wells. There is a remedy for that though....
Talk to Greg, and give Jeff at TSW a call--between those two, you really can't go wrong.

I have done some searching around on this site and still have some questions about suspension. Bottom line challenge: vastly improve handling for under $700.
After two track days on a 2004 MCS, I have some pretty bad wear on the outer inch of the tires. The car got loose on big sweepers (a cool guy with cross-coilovers on his mini could go about 15mph faster on the same sweeper).
Would a rear sway bar and adjusting the camber at the front (and back..?) be sufficient?
Cheers.

You could have worn bushings, bad struts, just bad tires to bad air pressure. Get someone to look over the suspension if you are not comfortable doing so.
Where do you live? Might find someone here that can help you out.
Could someone help me with my last post atthe link bellow? Thanks.

Suspension tuning is a bit more complicated then this. Kinda like calling a doctor and saying you have this rash on your arm, what prescription can he write up for it.

... good point. East of LA - know a good place?I was working on the assumption that there was not a problem with my stock MCS Sport setup as I was still really fast around the rest of the track (keeping up with some kids in M3's) and the wear was simply from getting the tires molten and hitting turns at 10/10. My goal is really trying to make the handling better than the stock setup, especially in the wide sweeping bends.
If you think all is in good shape with suspension components, then you next step may be front camber plates and a rear H-Sport comp sway bar.
I recomend the above as you do have a budget and I think this is the best bang for the buck. Also, you really need the camber plates when you decide to go with any spring or coilover mods, along with rear control arms and adjustable swaybar end links. .

hahaha i cant believe your getting coilovers. after all that trash talk. have you talked with Justin any about what to get? If you arent worried about slamming, then have you thought about a good shock and spring combo like the bilstein sport shocks and H&R springs? it will lower it just a little bit, but nothing like slamming. The ride is very nice. I personally think that the BC coils are stiffer than stock. Something like H&R is more comfortable than stock. Onsled is probably the best person on here to talk to about suspension. but id be glad to give you my two cents man. I should be coming down there in the next month or so. We should hook up, i wanna feel the car

. No biggie. I am looking more for comfort than anything and of course a little drop. I will look into the H&Rs. I am also thinking about the KWs v1 as well.
Let me know for sure when you are in town as I want to give your car a spin as well!
cool. Ill let you know. Yeah people will make claims all they want about whatever, but i know the facts. You could even post the dyno sheet and someone would just discredit Mynes by saying they cheat or something haha
