M7 coilovers + SPC camber plates = raised suspension

I had adjustable SPC camber plates installed above my M7 coilovers (bottomed out). As a result, the MINI is now a little higher in the front than I'd like.

Can I safely remove the one or both of the locking rings on the M7 coilover (leaving just the spring cup) to lower the suspension an additional ~.25-.50in?
