I installed Texas Werks springs on 2/14/09 and had creaking from the front. We sprayed the upper part of the springs with rubber lube and the creaking stopped. I have driven about 400 miles since then and no creaking. Love the springs they are great.

Mine still creak from time to time but I haven't lubed anything. Ed, what 'lube' did you use exactly?

TSW's ordered a couple minutes ago. Hopefully, I'll hear no creaking from them.

We'll find out in a week and a half or so.

About 800 miles on mine and they still creak and pop, much quieter than before though. They ride great, but the noise in parking lots and such is slightly irritating. I'm in touch with Dustin and TSW to try to get this resolved.

Doing it myself. Hopefully, this Friday, but definitely by Saturday, unless shipping is delayed for some reason.

My soon to be father-in-law is letting borrow his garage! Woo Hoo!

Update from me:

My TSW springs got quieter and quieter as I drove. Based on that trend, I have no doubt that they would have become silent eventually (I can only assume). My car was definitely one of those with the upper spring perch that had the slight bulge to it. However, after living with them for two weeks, I decided that the height had to change. I originally planned to AutoX and I think that these springs are probably the best simple spring swap out there - especially for this type of effort. However, reality set in for me. We all have different things we're looking for when we alter our suspensions. For me, it was a combination of looks and performance (I went from stock to H&R to TSW and now KW Coilovers - all within 1000 miles mind you). I accomplished what I was after with my latest change - however, it was 5 times the cost of TSW springs. In fact, I know that TSW now markets their own coilovers that have looks AND performance (using sprint springs on their dampers (made by KW?) I believe).

Regardless, here are a couple of pics showing where I'm at today:

TSW (after two weeks of settling):

Current setup (KW Coilovers):

To me, they both look great but in different ways. If you're looking for the best aftermarket spring using the stock dampers and spirited driving is your #1 goal, TSW is probably the way to go - even they will agree with that.

Cheers.

Well, I finally got the TSW's on today with no "major" issues (I managed to strip one of the bolts on the rear, but it should be a quick fix with another bolt and a lock nut), and only ONE scratch on my arm! Woo hoo, for not getting hurt!

So far so good. The ride is amazing! And no creaking!!! The stance already looks waaaaaaay better. It's going to look effin' sweet when the springs settle.

Thanks to Dustin at AutoXCooper.com, and the folks at TSW!

That is oustanding news J... Which bolt did you strip? Was it one of the upper perch mounts?

No, it was the left rear lower bolt that holds the bottom of the strut in. It's not really a huge deal (or so I'm told) I had two mechanics supervising... . We'll just have to hammer the bolt out, and pop in an new bolt that uses a locking nut, and torque it to spec.

I'll put it this way... after driving it, they said that I could probably leave it in there the way it is and it would be okay, but if I wanted to be cautious I should do the above.

once they've settled, get some pics.

i don't think i'll be doing the install job myself, unfortunately, but glad to hear it went well, and that you're not creaking!

Update: I am indeed creaking, but it's not really that bad. I'm going out to WD-40 it as we speak (type/read... whatever ). I'll report back on how that works.

Anyway, after about 50 miles I can already tell a pretty big difference in the stance. The back is settling in very quickly, and the front has settled quite a bit as well. I think these are going to be effin' sweet. The ride is AMAZING! Especially, when you get on the Interstate. Ginormous difference. I'd recommend these to anyone.

Just to further update my experience with the TSW's:

Everything has settled at this point. The drop in the back is great, but I have a hard time believing that the front has dropped a full inch (and no, I don't have camber plates). I'm not really 100% satisfied with the drop in the front. I think it really needs to be about .25" - .50" lower. It just looks weird. Like it sits a wee bit higher in the front.

Also, about 200 or 300 miles ago, the front end creak came back. It might have been back for a while now and I just didn't notice (having the radio on and whatnot). Anyway, this is after having put about 3k miles on the springs, so I'm planning on calling TSW to see what's up and what can be done.

The long and short... The TSW's are great springs for a great combo of performance and comfort, but the drop and the creaking might be too much for me. I'm thinking at this point I might follow BlackSapphire and switch to KW coils.

im about 2k into the springs, and the creaking was slowing going away so i blasted some wd40 about 200 miles ago to speed up the process. My front is already lower than the rear, not by much, but by the scientific finger measurement, it's about 1/4th of an index finger lower.

TSW springs are a great combination but I have the same issues as MoxieMini: creaking and the drop was not quite what I expected. I have about 1.5K miles since installing the springs.

I was on their website and reviewed the detail description on the R53 springs, which is about what I got for a drop also:
3/4" average drop front to rear, with the front settling in about 5/8" to 3/4" drop and the rear about 7/8"

I have an almost base 09 JCW MINI and I got 1/2" drop in the front and 3/4" drop in the rear. I only wish I could have gotten a little more drop in the front.

Also thought about going to another setup....

Don't take this as a negative on the TSW springs, the ride is exactly what I was looking for and is way much better than stock.

A further update: It seems the creaking is getting progressively worse. Not cool.

I would suggest you check the upper and lower control arm bolts.

Can you get the creak when the car is sitting still with you trying to rock the MINI pushing on the roof rail standing outside?

Might not be the springs.

I am creak free, but I do shoot some automotive grade lube up in the rubber areas. Not WD-40.

Don

I put the TSWs on our Clubman and the front did not go down as much as I was hoping, the back looks great. My creaking is all of the time on the passenger side, I am thinking of just getting a set of NM springs for the Clubman.
