Suspension Adjustable Rear Control Arms
Adjustable Rear Control Arms
I have an '07 MCS with currently stock suspension. I took the car in for a 4 wheel alignment after hitting a pot hole hard enough to damage the sidewall on a Dunlop run flat. I learned that the rear camber was out of spec and had insufficient adjustment to get the camber and toe into spec. I've been searching through NAM and vendor sites and have the following questions:
- Does it make sense to replace the stock unadjustable lower control arms only. The camber can then be adjusted and it will affect the toe to some degree. Have most of you replaced both the upper and lower bars or the lower bars only?
- It appears there are 2 styles of adjustable bars, those with urethane bushings (more like stock) and those with "heim" joints (racing style rod ends with teflon bearing surfaces). For a car mostly (95%+) driven on the street, does the type with the urethane bushings make the most sense from a noise/vibration/harshness and wear standpoint?
- I have found 4 (5) manufacturers of adjustable bars with urethane bushings; Hotchkis, H Sport (looks same as Hotchkis), Eibach, Megan, and Ireland Engineering. Does anyone have any recommendations for any of these manufacturers or perhaps one to stay away from?
The factory adjustment is very minimal, but it should be able to get you within stock specs. So if it can't you may have something bent. The adjustable rear control arms will give you enough adjustment you should be able to adjust it to whatever you need.
As for which ones. I mostly sell the Hsport camber links, they have poly bushings, which are quiet and are super strong.

Hope that helps.
