Suspension KW V2 vs JIC CROSS coilover
KW V2 vs JIC CROSS coilover
I know most NAM members prefer JIC Cross c/o.
Any thoughts on KW V2? I had a good experience on E46 M3. I probably wont be tracking the car, maybe once a year..
On E46 M3, Ive tried TCKline (koni shocks /linear springs), PSS9 (POS
), KW v2. Out of three, TCKline and KW V2 was great.
On the MCS, knowing that it is a totally different car, but still those coilover should provide similar characteristic improvement over stock form. Just wanting to get some opinions.
Thanks.

This won't answer your question...but
I would go with a cheaper option since you aren't planning to track that often.
I have the V1s and love them, a lot of people like the H&Rs which are even cheaper.

As a contrary post to the above poster, I went with the "wallet" approach and bought the CROSS.
Very happy with them thus far (though only had them installed within 30 days or so).
Note: I also don't have track requirements; tis is my daily driver.
I don't have experiance with the others .

thanks for the input.... ya.. i dont know if i'll ever go to a track (i really should try once or twice).. yes.. spirited driving and it is my daily driver. I need to do more research and ride in cars that has different setup.
when you say the H&Rs do you mean that a lot of people just went with H&R springs and oem shocks? or does H&R make a full coilover setup for the r56?

I have KW Comp 2's now on one of my MCS's and m7 Coilovers on the other one. I have also had Bilstein PSS9's on both cars at one point in time. The KW's are great on the track but not so much on the street. The Bilstein's were good, but the m7's are better IMHO for a mostly street driven car and canyon runner with occasional (3-4 times a year) track days. Never drove a car with Cross coilovers.

well actually i would recommend something that isn't "on the market"....
i have custom ordered some modified Koni coilovers with custom TCKlein Springs (the Koni's are obviously revalved for the springs). i'm not sure exactly how the other coilovers are set up on the market, but i know how the lowering springs are... most keep a near stock setup with a spring bias towards the rear so the car is a little more likely to pop it's rear around for cornering at the limit... i did some research and had a few people who have raced mini coopers in the past say that this is fine for street and lowering springs but if you're going coilover route you should actually get a slightly different setup.
now to this point i only know all this in theory because my Coilovers are to arrive this coming thursday. but i have driven in an E46 M3 with these exact same "brand" name coilovers and honestly, the spring rates are high, but the custom valving makes it (the M3 at least) IMO the best possible street coilover kit available that's easily adjusted and usable on the track. now if you want i'll keep you updated as to everything and how it goes.. i plan to get plenty of pictures, and i'll probably start a new thread about them... i also plan corner balancing them to try and get the most out of them.
The kit cost me $2200 and comes with:
-TCKlein Springs, (for my set) 450lb/in Front, 350lb/in Rear Linear springs all around
-Koni Coilover shocks w/ threaded body and custom valving
-Vorshlag Camber Plates
-Double adjustable Compression and Rebound
Made specifically for the R56 (and can be made to work with JCW GP cars by just asking to swap out the R56 camber plates for R53 ones...)
so yeah... just letting it be known that there is another option that could potentially be the perfect middle ground between JIC Cross and KWs... i have only driven one car with KWs on them and that was Helix13's Shop car R56 (very nicely done btw, it's quite amazing setup they have) so i'll have that as a reference to compare to KW coilovers... honestly don't know about Cross but i know they're higher spring rates than most C/O kits... so could be a direct comparison for Cross as well...

I had TCKline coilover for my E46 M3 - 500/500 LOVED the setup. It was one of the best setup ive ever had for that car.... PERIOD.. comfort and performance was a nice balance...
You must be very special dumphyj !
Found tckline's website and contact info and sent a message inquiring about the suspension package you described in your post above. Received the following response:
This would be a custom hand built system based on Koni Sports. We built a similar system for one of our cars. It has separate rebound and compression adjustments. Allow 6-8 weeks for it to be built, cost will be around $3100.00 for the springs, height adjusters, and shocks. Camber plates would be extra.
We do not have any other options.
Given that the price did not include the camber plates which were included in your listed $2,200 "kit" , I'd say you are very special to the folks that sold it to you. More than I can afford..............
So I went with the Cross Coilovers. Got them from Waylen @ Way Motor Works.

Let us know how you like the Cross Coilovers. I'm getting ready to install some on my GP on June 6th. I'm interested to know what you think of the difference between the GP suspension and the Cross setup.

more info on Swift springs with cross setup....
I have cross coils .. forgot what rate springs...
Overall its ok setup.. i think i have to fine tune with better tires and cambers and control arm links perhaps..
WHat are your thoughts on control arm links...
