SWAY BAR

This subject may have been covered before. I tried to find the information using this site's search engine to no avail.

I'll be installing the Alta Version 2.0 19mm Rear Sway Bar Kit on an '08 MCSa in the near future.

Alta doesn't include those torque value specifications in their instructions and Adam at Alta wasn't able to provide them, so, I'll ask those here on this board:

What are the torque values for the 13mm and 21mm side strut/spring assembly bolts and the 16mm bolts connecting rear sub frame to chassis?

Thanks very much!!

I don't have a clue, but ask the people at Way Motor Works in Atlanta. They'll know for sure. They are vendors here, chime in threads here and there.

Skeeter!!!! Bro, how's the car?

On the 16mm bolts, just go good-n-tite; same for the 13mm. On the 21's, I think it's 77 ft lbs.
Don't overtorque anything on top of the struts; ask me how I know that one... ...so, actually, you can just use the wrist torque wrench all the way around.
PS -- air tools make the job so much nicer.

Why the little 19mm asb? Get the 22 at least... I have the H-sport 25.5mm. H-sport also has the grease fittings so that it won't squeak later. Other bars will squeak...

Torque specs are normally dictated by the bolt size, grade and thread. There are some application that require more or less torque but your pretty close with the nominal value. The grade can be found by looking at the head of the bolt. the lines and numbers will tell you what the story is if you have a guide.

All the info can be found on the internet depending on the bolt size and and thread. Or a Machinest hand book.

this is a good site too.

ArnBut & Bhatch,

Thanks a bunch for guiding me in the right direction!!

If information wasn't available, I was gonna use the "that feels about right" torque on those boys. More on bigger bolts, less on smaller.

Can't wait 'til the pocket rocket gets here!!!!!
