Convertible Frame Struts

Anyone have any tales to tell regarding the front frame reinforcement struts that are standard equipment in the 'vert? Any good reason to put them on a hardtop? (non S) Pros/cons, installation issues? Thanks!

PGT has them on his R53

though he told me that he put them on at the same time as the tsw x-brace so he doesn't know how much they do independently of that

the install is different depending on you car's build date, some years i think you have to drill a couple holes, though PGT would be more qualified to answer this than me
