M7 coilovers

I'm having the M7 coilovers installed on my GP, will post later on any problems and of course how good they are. I'm also installing the H-sport camber plates, rear comp sway bar and once it arrives the M7 strut brace.

You should like this set up. Very nice ride and control. Replaced my Koni's with M7 coilovers and went with the Hsport plates. Car feels better and rides better. Enjoyed and let us know your impression.

Did you have to use wheel spacers? Unfortunately when I purchased the coilovers for the GP, M7 did not know that they did not work with GP wheels, so now I'm left still with no car and hoping that tomorrow the right wheel spacers will arrive. The 1st set of spacers M7 sent to fix the problem once it became apparent did not work.

Hmm, I wonder if they will advise other GP owners interested in purchasing these coilovers regarding this fitment issue.

Now they know I'm sure they will, but is this just a problem with 18" GP wheels or will other 18" rims ie. JCW have the same issue. But credit to M7 for doing their best to rectify the situation, although who will pay for the additional unforseen labour costs .

You will most likely pay for the cost. And based on their track record I would not expect any disclaimers anytime soon. Hope you get it sorted.

No wheel spacers. No need. Sorry about your experience. I hope they arrive and work also. Where is the interference between wheel and coilovers? How thick of a spacer is needed.
BTW, I am running aftermarket 17's. I think there is photos in my gallery.
Good luck. Once you're back on the road you'll like the set up.

Yes, unfortunately the wheel hits the coilover. The 1st set of wheel spacers they sent were 3mm, they were not enough so yesterday they sent 5mm and some longer lugs.

there is no fitment issue. GP owners should know better than to expect M7 stuff to fit with aftermarket parts 100% of the time. Oh, wait....

I heard that its not worth going on this website because of the way a few people answer some threads, thats a shame.
As far as when you purchase aftermarket products isn't it the responsibility of the dealer to say no they don't fit, or you will need wheel spacers, when they are asked by the customer if they will fit.
Sorry its just my humble opinion, but setting that aside happy motoring and enjoy your car, I like the look .

I did not realize that at the time, I trusted M7 to guide me, which they did. I also bought other products from them after several good sessions on the phone of me asking many questions, and taking their advice. During which time I was told that they would make a nice differance to the car and that I would be very happy, which when it is complete I'm sure I will be, as M7 is doing their best to rectify any issues.

I was being sarcastic.

Most people go to coilovers for the additional wheel clearance they gain by doing so. Anybody know the offset and width on the GP wheels?

I had no interference issues at all with my street setup, Centerline RPM wheels in 7 x 17 with 215-45-17 tires. My track setup with 7.5 x 17 wheels and 205-40-17 tires rubbed. The edge of the rim hit the shock body until I added 8mm spacers.

I had a custom set of spacers made that eliminated the need for hubcentric adapters. I had them built into the spacers.

garylimey, thinking about this, as I read the new postings, a GP owner, here in Mi. has had some issues with camber plates. Seems when the car is aligned to a -2 degrees the springs rub on a body seam only on the passenger side. I point this out to illustrate after market vendors can't find all the issues with every car. There will have to be some help, from the end user, in finding problems and mentioning them to the vendors. In this case it seems M7 is doing everything possible to make this work for you.
sanddan, someone else in the club mentioned rubbing issue as you experienced. Another point to build variations between cars and after market produces.

actually, it's the driver's side and a BFH is an easy fix for that issue. adding spacers to stock wheels isn't a fix...it's a band-aid.

The last of the set up issues seem to have been sorted out now, with a lot of help from M7, they are overnighting me the last of what I need to complete the job and hopefully Prestige Mini will be able to do their part to finish the project tomorrow. Thanks M7 for standing behind the product .
