Springs
I am in the market for a pair of front springs but can only use ones with the part numbers 31 33 6 759 388. These could possibly come from an MCS depending upon the option package of the car they came off of. You can find the part numbers from any MINI dealer by giving him the last 7 digits of the VIN. I also have the ETK ( Electronic Parts Catalog) that I can get the part numbers from.

Upon additional familiarization with the ETK (I just got the software last week), it seems that the last 7 digits of the VIN only identifies certian attributes of the vehicle such as model, right hand drive, year and month of manufacture. There are 11 additional parameters that affect spring part numbers.
1. National version Canada
2. Automatic transmission
3. DSC iii
4. Sport suspension plus
5. Head air bags
6. Glass roof
7. Storage compartment package
8. Headlight cleaning system
9. Fog lights
10. CD changer (6 CD)
11. Harman Kardon Hi Fi system
When I input the last 7 digits of my VIN, I still had to select the proper items from the list above. This gave me the part numbers of the springs that came on the car (SS not SS+), If I then add the sport suspension plus option it comes up with the spring part numbers for my car with the SS+ suspension. The springs also have color code bands on the spring coils but this is apparently just for manufacturing assembly use for I can find no info to associate these with the part numbers.
Now you know everything that I know about it.
