Becareful, if you go too much, you get a kind of "reverse" mushrooming. Trust me though, it's really hard to get them flat in the first place. You'd have to have an arm like Swartzewhatever to go down too far.

Im new to the mini world so i havent seen any mushrooming before. Does anyone have any photos of this happening? What it sounds like to me is the struts maybe too stiff for the top mounts. Wouldnt upgrading the strut mounts to aftermarket fix the problem? Also when you guys are installing your strut bar, are you jacking up the front to install it? If not that is definitely not helping out the problem. Just my .02

A picture wouldnt really give you a good idea of what it looks like. You really only notice it until you try to install a strut bar, like i did and then notice that one side is bent more than the other etc . I really didnt feel anything different in driving except during hard exceleratring, the wheel would kinda pull to one side breifly until i corrected it.

Well, when i get back from vacation im going to order a M7 bar and fix the strut tower beforeing installing this. Supposedly the M7 bar comes with instructions on how to correct the mushrooming strut tower which is a big help. Oh and yes you are right about upgrading the mounts, but you should be fine with the stock mounts once you correct the mushrooming and add a good strut bar. But of course it wouldnt hurt i guess.

When you install the "reinforced" plates, are the existing bolts long enough to go though the new plate plus a full nut threads engagement? The strut bolts look short to me... How thick is the "reinforced" plates?

I'm new to this as well. I was considering getting the Works Strut bar for no other reason then its in the configurator. Now I see people talking about an M7 ? I would be installing this on an 07 MC/S.

If are worried about Mushrooming on an "07". The towers are redesigned to avoid the problem.
