Yes, you can but be careful.

Some race only rims are very light and relatively strong but not recommended for general street use. I think it was minilytes or similar that had street vs track versions.

Some light rims that are strong and forged are recommended for street use and not for track although light lapping sessions are probably OK. There is more stress on the rims and more heat generated.

Since light rims that are forged tend to be more expensive then exposing them to road hazzards with street use is risky. Some of us have to live with that risk.

Orderly room? I know where that's at; been to one once or twice. No, I'm a crusty old crew dog with quite a few years to go before I can grow my mullet and Fumanchu.

My philosophy is it's time to punch-out when it stops being fun; obviously that time is now for you. Good luck in whatever you do and thanks for your service to this great country.

My '04 MCS "MM2urbo" was 2394 pounds total according to calibrated corner scales with 7 gallons of fuel, a small CD case, and no driver. It had very little interior, but all the stock body panels. Light flywheel, light brakes, heavy wheels, no A/C, no rear wiper, still had xenon's and fogs, and my single-turbo conversion.

Peter's 02 was 2235 with a few gallons of gas. Off the top of my head to get to this weight :

Sunroof removed , carbon hatch replacment.
No air bags .
No interior
No headliner
Volk 12 lb wheels
Straight exhaust , super trap muffler.
Motorcycle battery
Ceramic titanium front brakes
205/17 Toyo Ra/1's
Cf Hood
Front and rear aluminum bumpers " shaved "
No a/c
Momo Wheel
Cobra CF racing buckets
Aluminum front control arms
No rear windsheild wiper assembley

I am sure there was more but thats all i can think of at this time.

Not a race-prep contender, but my 05 MCS weighed 2800lbs with me in it (180) and a full tank of gas (13x7=90lbs of fuel). That's 2530 lbs dry. It still has all the seats and the rear parcel tray, but no sun roof. Lower weight items include header and Miltek exhaust, Kosei K1s, TCE brakes and most suspension parts replaced (even though I doubt the COs are lighter than the stock units). When I got it corner balanced the weight distribution was 62/38 F/R. Saving weight from the front would be a great goal, but harder than shaving weight from the rear.

I'm pretty sure his car is sub 2000 lbs. He's gutted the whole thing, and replaced everything with CF/Fiberglass IIRC.

Of course both of those are discountinued

Kosei K1s are around 14lbs I think in 17".
I have 16" OZ Ultraleggeras at 14.5 lbs.

Just a Cooper, but deliberately ordered light (no sunroof), slight weight reduction from stainless mymini exhaust; 15X7 forged BBS RGFs @ 10.6 lbs each. Got me curious now, I'll have to get weighed.

^You should have a pretty light Cooper

For fun, take the rear seats out along with any other parts that are easily removable

I don't know if anyone posted this before but I happened to be in my storage area and weighed my old stock leather heated seats . They tip the scales at 50 lbs each with brackets. My most recent set weigh 11 per seat without bracket .

No problem . I always wondered but never happen to have a scale handy until now . Just trying to feed the information pipeline.
