Darn it... I wish I could find 10 other MINI owners who want to change their transmission fluid at the same time

I called two dealers and they both said that they stopped distributing smaller amounts to the customers from the 20L bottle.

I may just get the RedLine then. What are the advantages and disadvantages of RedLine over the MINI MTF? Which one do you guys use the most: Redline MT90 (75W90) or MTL (70W80)? MINI MTF is 75W80?

Thanks.

I went ahead and had the transmission fluid replaced with a Redline MT90 (for $65). The feel of shifting has not changed. The reason I mention this because Redline advertises their products to "cure" notchy shifting. The gear changes have always been a bit "notchy" on my 03 MCS. It has not gotten worse and after reading others' posts on NAM I just put that in the "characteristics" list of the car.

By the way, I dont understand why people dont fill the transmission fluid from top and let the gravity work for you. The guy changing this spent a good amount pumping the fluid up to the transmission

Why did you pick the MT90 over MTL?

MINI MTF - 75-80
Redline MTF - 70-80
Redline MT90 - 75-90

None of the numbers match, so I picked the one that the mechanic suggested. He works on many MINIs and owns a MINI (runs MT90 in that too). So, I went with his suggestion.

I did not feel any difference either when I put in MTL.
Not bad, just no difference. My guess is that everything was fine and the new fluid just gives me more time before I have any problems (or maybe not have problems at all).
Just because you don't feel any difference does not mean the change was not a good idea. Redline fluids =
