>>Sorry, but I didn't feel like letting this one slide... You HAVE to provide MSDSs upon request. It's an OSHA rule. Doing so doesn't make you special.

What I meant is that we have them on the spot. We never say, "Yeah, we can get them to you later." This is why we are sucessful at gaining government accounts. The buyers like us.. See what I'm sayin!

Zappa - I'm moving to Texas in a month, not far from dallas, I'll have to pick up some Amsoil from you and try it out.

Though I do think with some of the savings agruments are bull as Amsoil tells you it is say a 35k mile oil or 1 year. Well most people don't run more then 10-12k miles a year in a car(of course there is exceptions) and since mobil 1 etc will last that long there is really no difference in the timeframe. But how good the oil for that year may be different which i'm interested in. Where is a good place I can send in oil samples for testing? I'd like to compare mobil 1, redline, and amsoil together....other people can show me charts but I like to see it for myself in my own car to believe...and if it is better, then that is what I'll use.

Gotcha. Just wanted to clarify. And by the way, I'll be ordering the AMSOIL as soon as my 10k service is past.

Cool! We'll have to get together. I can send you the kits for the Cleveland testing agent. you can also do some searches, (look up oil analysis) but you have to have the business's bottle for the test to be accurate. The one I use is 18.95 postage paid and their one of the few that use a 27 point testing.. I draw the oil up from the dipstick tube but you can use the drain. Just be sure its at operating temp and if you top off, run the engine for a few miles first or you will get a bad sample.

As for the bull that Mobil 1 lasts I would have to disagree. Run your Mobil 1 that long and compare how much will burn off compared to AMSOIL. Also on the analysis you will see how quickly Mobil 1 looses its viscosity. Why use a product like that when for the same price you can do better? And we have more product selection.

When they say 35,000 miles, that means it is guaranted to keep its viscosity for that interval, TBN, and reduce wear and keep metals in suspension (dispersants) while standing up to the sheer (Amsoil tests show higher oil pressure when used in the same vehicle as Mobil 1 and that was testomonials from fellow customers)..

The other difference is that during that 35,000 miles (or 3 times longer in Turbos - see data sheet) Amsoil will replace your engine should damage occur because of it's use. With Mobil 1 you don't have this protection because they did not design the oil for that. Unlike MobilExxon, Amsoil can use base stocks from many different producers. MobilExxon does not allow their labs use use products of their competitors, thus it is impossible for them to have superrior blends.

No, you are right. 80% of my customers change at 1/2 its interval but they still enjoy the added protection they can feel. You see these beliefs only remain with the consumers. It's just a matter of time before people are comfortable with 20K + oil changes. And everybody is complaining about we need to reduce dependence on foreign oil. Amsoil has been doing that since 1972.

I think we agree on the Mobil 1 argument....maybe I didn't state it better but I did mention that or meant to imply that the quality of the oil after a year may be different, which is why I want to run the tests...but I was just stating on the milage stuff that the average person will never run it to 35k.

Since I haven't used Amsoil before, what do you think oil intervals should be at if you are doing alot of autox, track days, driving schools, etc? I just can't stand going past 5k miles....if nothing more then for piece of mind.

I can look up my notes if you guys wish to find out what oil did what in the test. As for which Redline oil I tested, all of them and all had pathetic results. If my memory serves me correctly Amsoil wasn't that great either. As for where to get this machine, I do not know. We tested oils from 80 degrees F to 300 degrees f to really get a wide spectum of oil performance. The reason for this test was to search for an oil that would gain the most (or lose the least) viscosity the hotter the oil got. The better viscosity when hot, less friction on pistons/rings etc, less power loss, equals faster car, better on engine wear. It would be a shame to spend all of this time and money on these performance mods and have it all go to waste when the engine gets hot or engine driven hard. I am surprised Randy promotes/supports Redline.

thanks for the info ASenna - thus why i want to test...i don't care how long an oil lasts as I'll change it as often or more often then it needs it...i want the best oil and don't care if it needs to be changed every 2k miles.

I just have to write this.

I bought an 89 Mazda 121 (Right side drive) for $8.25. Yes Eight dollars and twenty-five cents. It came to me with no oil in it and for a year I never added oil. The thing ran like a champ. I had to junk it because it failed inspection. It failed inspection because the person that owned it before me decided to give it only one windshield wiper. German inspections are by the book. I couldn't see spending money to fix this car, I just threw it away.

Funny huh?
