Mis-aligned Hatch

Has anyone re-alligned the hear hatch door of their Mini. My hatch always looks as if it isn't totally closed. Door looks like it is 1/8 - 1/4 inch out from left & right quarter panel.

Need a "how to" for allignment of hatch

Yeah, I have the same problem. I tried moving the latch in but that made no difference. Anyone have any suggestions?

My hatch has always been slightly tilted like an off-center hanging picture AND one side of it sticks out 1/4". The dealer fiddled with the rubber bumpers but only succeed in making both sides stick out 1/4".

I tried to explain why the bumpers could not possibly rotate the hatch back to plumb and when I suggested adjusting the hinges, the SA stated that if it came from the factory in that condition then "it must be within spec" and therefore they feel there's nothing to fix. I got the impression that what he really wanted to say was that touching the hinges would actually require tools and/or there isn't a reimbursement code for it.

I'm not sure about this. I know my old 2003 and my current 2005 had/have a misaligned gap. That seems to be the norm on MINIs. I'd have the dealer look at again. They should be able to look at another MINI on their lot and see this isn't normal.
