coolant change

dot191,
We purchased our Cooper a few weeks back and I got a chance this last weekend to change the coolant. It was actually one of the easier coolant changes I've done recently.

1.jack up and secure vehicle on stands
2.remove lower splash shield, loosen the 3 10mm bolts and remove the two phillips head screws
3.open coolant fill
4.remove lower radiator hose at radiator
5.open bleed valves
6.remove and clean expansion tank
7.re-attach expansion tank and fill
8.re-attach lower radiator hose
9.start filling coolant
10.the rear bleed valve will fill first, close that one
11.then close the front bleed valve
12.close the filler when full

I was fortunate enough to have about an hour to slowly fill the system as I was working on other things so I didn't have to fire the car up and bleed the system while it was running...no biggie, but it just worked out that way. All in all, it was a pretty easy and rewarding job.
