Gang- This evening the passenger side folgight burnt out on my 02 Cooper. I looked up in the owners manual for a bulbs and yes, it is a H7 bulb, however under the instructions on replacement, it says to contact the MINI dealer. Has anyone tackled replacing the fog light bulb? Is it that complicated?
TIA,
Alex

It should be cover by the W.
Just call them and let them know you are coming so they can have the part ready, and the time...

julian- I figured it'd be covered by the warranty, i just dont have the time to get the car 104 miles away to the dealer ship so i figured i'd try it myself.

I think you have to jack the car and remove the plastic wheel arch liner, held in place by various screws and plastic clips. The wheels need to be turned to gain access. Once the liner is removed, the bulb holder should be accessible. This is according to the TIS, but I haven't done it myself.

I replaced an entire foglamp unit. I removed the wheel and the inside arch to do it. I'm sure you can get to it by just loosening part of the inside arc and turning the wheel as stated. Here are some pics I posted once before to help someone out with this. (just a note, some MINI's use H7's in the fogs and some use H11's)

Here are the front screw locations, remove the anchors the plastic screws are attached to.

Inside arch off and bonnet raised. There is the fog!

And here is the (very tightly weatherproofed) collar that holds the bulb.

Good luck!

Thank you, thank you, thank you.... for being one of the FEW that draws on their JPEGs to show the parts!!!!

There are some very wonderful "How Tos" on our Mini Site here, but they say "Remove this bolt"... and there are a bunch of bolts in the picture.

If only more would take the time to open up there graphics app and draw little arrows.

Great job!
