Damn pack rats!
Happened to me, twice! Here is a picture of the first time. Second was less than a week later! Which is odd, the car has been sitting out for like 6 months before it happened the first time.

Every winter before I know car is gonna sit for a while I also use the trick of tying a bounce fabric softener sheet around each plug wire. Also now I place a bag of moth ***** under hood .

this has helped so far ....
