Agro, if you take a small screwdriver or punch and "vent" the conventional oil filter, the filter will drain through the crankcase and out the drain plug. Then when you spin off the filter it doesn't spill all over the side of the engine. I own lots of Toyotas with this issue and I've learned to cope.
I find nothing particularly irritating about the MINI filter arrangement if you have the right tools and enough patience to loosen it slowly and let it drain rather than drip.

I don't know about minimania, but Outmotoring does sell the OEM oil filters.

Do you mean the "dirt" accumulated in the filter is going through the crankcase?

The oil in the filter is the same as in the crankcase. Dirty or clean. The media of the filter holds all of the dirt. It won't find it's way back to the crankcase.
